Christmas in the Village: December 2

2006 Christmas in the VillageChristmas in the Village is an old-fashioned holiday craft fair and more sponsored by the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce. The Sidewalk Craft and food Fair runs from 10 a.m. until dusk with carolling and other activities happening throughout the day. Highlights include a Christmas Parade at 4pm and our traditional Tree Lighting at dusk in Village Park.

Murder Mystery Dinner: November 3

Murder Mystery DinnerMillions from the late Dolly Witherspoon's estate will be divided between her favorite heirs. How much is the endowment? Who will the recipients be? Perhaps, YOU? Will greed spark animosity between the family... or perhaps even MURDER?!

The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District proudly presents a murder mystery play Friday, November 3rd starting at 7pm. Tickets are $45 per person and must be purchased in advance. Price includes a sit-down dinner(served at 8pm), dessert and the play. For more information, call the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District Office at 966-1036.


2006 Fair Oaks Dog WalkFair Oaks Dog Walk: October 7

The Fourth Annual Fair Oaks Dog Walk features a scenic walk along the American River and fun and activities in Fair Oaks Village Park, including free treats and water for dogs and their people, live music, doggie demos, contests (talent, dog/human look-a-like, and many more), vendor booths, and great raffle prizes.

Second Annual Fair Oaks Metric Century Bike Ride: August 27

Fair Oaks Metric CenturyThe Fair Oaks Metric Century is a local cycling event presented by the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce and benefiting There Are No Limits, a non-profit that benefits kids at risk. Come and participate in this family-friendly event that is appropriate for all age and ability levels. The 100km (64 mile) route will begin in Fair Oaks, go to Discovery Park near Old Sacramento, up to Folsom Lake, down to the Fair Oaks Bridge and back. There is also an alternative 30K Family-friendly route and a 75K route for those who don't wish to make the final climb to Folsom Lake. Afterward, there is a great barbeque and fun entertainment. Smoothies will be provided by a local juice company. This is a great way to wrap up the summer cycling season and help support a great cause.

Concerts in the Park: Thursdays June 22 - September 7

Concerts in the ParkEnjoy a new live band every Thursday night in Village Park of Fair Oaks. This yearly free concert series is brought to the community by the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce, the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District, and the Fair Oaks Foundation for Leisure and Arts.

This year's series begins on June 22nd with a "Kids Night Out" concert. The Sacramento Banjo Band will be including a group of songs for and with the kids in the audience. The theme for this year is "Bubbles, Balloons, and Beach Balls - Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer". So come out for opening night, or any other Thursday throughout the summer, bring chairs or a blanket for seating in the park, and be prepared for alot of fun.

Fair Oaks Fiesta Days: May 6th & 7th

Don't miss the annual Fair Oaks Fiesta the first weekend in May from 10am to 4pm. This huge family event brings 8,000 to 10,000 attendees into the heart of Fair Oaks village to enjoy a grand Parade, rides, children's game booths, carnival, frog jumping, raffle, Theatre Festival show, Fire Safety Demos, Car Show, Toilet Bowl Race, food and crafts, and much, much more.

Senior Citizen's Ball: March 19, 2006

Come dressed to impress and dance the night away to music by the Len Casey Band at "A Red Carpet Affair" presented by the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District and the Youth Advisory Board. In addition to music and dancing, the night will include appetizers, desserts, pictures, and a raffle! Tickets are only $5 at the Park District Office.

Storytime at the Fair Oaks Library

StorytimeStorytime returns to the Fair Oaks Library every Thursday morning at 10a.m. from February 2 to April 27. This free program regularly features storytelling, nursery rhymes, and sing-alongs! Register your child at the Fair Oaks Library.

Fair Oaks welcomes the Capital Swing Dancers: January 21

Capital Swing DancersThe Capital Swing Dancers are now making Fair Oaks their home for their monthly west coast swing dances for the year 2006. Unless otherwise noted in the calendar or on the official Capital Swing Dancers website, the dances are held on the 3rd Saturday of the month at the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse. There is usually a free beginner's lesson at 5:30pm and the official dance begins at 6:30pm. Admission $10 for non-members.
